Hortobagy stars ranked

The International Dark Sky Association announced having acknowledged Hortobagy Starry Sky Park in Eastern Hungary as a Silver Tier International Dark Sky Park.

Hortobágy is one of the most important bird areas in Europe and due to this fact, the Starry Sky Park was created with special care. Today, we can enjoy watching the starry sky at less and less places which is not only an esthetical but also a serious ecological problem as the light pollution disturbs the natural world increasingly.
On cloudless, moonless nights, we can see thousands of stars above the park even with our naked eyes. On clear summer nights, the dim Milky Way is a majestic sight. On spring nights, after sunset and on autumn dawns before sunrise the lights reflected by the interplanetary dust and also, the Zodiacal lights can be seen.
